photographer's diary

a day-to-day photo blog of what and where
photographer Bruce Behnke is shooting,
from both in front of and behind the lens
To photograph truthfully and effectively
is to see beneath the surfaces
and record the qualities of nature and humanity
which live or are latent in all things.

Polyptychs

I like to create polyptychs when there are a lot of different things going on in an image or when parts of the image warrant an individual view of their own.  Polyptychs help the viewer dissect an image and get into it.

We then get to work at putting the pieces back together as a whole, reconnecting lines, uniting objects and matching colors.  The benefit is, of course, that the plug has been pulled on the mind's visual perception shortcuts.

These polyptychs are meant to be quite large, with each panel measuring two by six feet.
